irl with a terrific sense of humor you gifted to both Adam and Jody.  You always played down your talents, and never quite believed how very special you are, but very special you are. 

One of the few things I did do right was always telling Phyl that I just loved to hear her laugh. She didn’t giggle or make that courtesy chuckle most of us do. She laughed inside-out. From way inside. A genuine laugh that often eventuated her cracking up in tears. It and her oblivious, amusical “singing” are the most beautiful sounds in my life.
She loved Jody and Adam’s stories. She loved Winthrop stories. She loved the mother on Raymond, Joan Rivers, Gracie Allen, Regis, kittens and guys-hit-in-the-balls videos.
Among the huge file cabinet of folders she saved were the comic strips she loved. And saved to share at school or to post at home. Reading, teaching, sexism, pets, offspring, husbands; I’ll share a few here.
She had a wonderful sense of humor herself. She’d post her signs and sayings ar school and home. She’d break the ice at meetings. She’d dialogue with the cats. She’d tell funny, self-deprecating stories. She’d quip at the most unexpected times. And always with that incredible smile.
She was so special.
